Cannes, April 5, 2022 – Almost 25 years after the very first broadcast of the program Un gars, une fille on Quebec television, Les Distributions Avanti Ciné Vidéo is pleased to announce the 30th adaptation of the Un gars, une fille – Love Bugs format by broadcaster TV JOJ. Entitled “Tomáš & Diana,” the Slovak version will include 26 22-minute episodes to be filmed in Slovakia starting this summer. The contract was negotiated by Arabelle Pouliot-Di Crescenzo for Les Distributions Avanti Ciné Vidéo.
In Quebec, Guy A. Lepage and Sylvie Léonard have left their mark on the television landscape with more than 130 episodes of the popular series that began on Radio-Canada on May 1st, 1997. “It’s fascinating to see that, after so many years, new adaptations of Guy A. Lepage’s universal concept continue to emerge around the world. Time obviously does not diminish the interest in the stories of this endearing couple,” says Monique Lamoureux, co-president of Distributions Avanti Ciné Vidéo.
The prestigious independent research firm The Wit had crowned the Un gars, une fille – Love Bugs format, the title of Best Fiction Format in the History of International Television at MIPTV in 2014. In 2019, the format was still in first place as “Best Selling Scripted Format Ever” in the Top 100 scripted formats in the world of television by the company K7. The most recent adaptations are from Ukraine, Africa, Slovenia and Serbia.
